Overthinking is fueled by today’s Age of Information—endless choices and the pressure to always "get it right." It’s tied to societal conditioning (rationality over intuition), trauma, and anxiety about past and future outcomes. The truth is, most choices (even parenting ones) aren’t as high-stakes as they feel in the moment. The key to stopping analysis paralysis by is practicing “embodied knowing” and tapping into your intuitive wisdom... but what does that look like? Trusting your inner voice and quieting your mind through mindfulness practices and body awareness are a good start.
Overthinking is just anxiety in action—it’s trying to pre-solve every problem that might come up. But recognizing that not every situation is a problem that needs fixing can go a long way to slowing down those constantly working brains. And at the end of the day, give things a try and find out what works!
