Grow As We Go
081- The Lightning Path: Desire, Discovery & the Dissolution of Self
It's Host Sam and Co-Host Anthony coming at you with a real, raw, and radical start to this spicy episode - but what else would you expect?
This past weekend was packed with experiences that pushed both of us into deeper self-awareness. We had a temple night play party, connected with our local Tantra community, and attended a White Tantra energy workshop—all of which were heart-expanding, transformative, and emotionally intense. But the real insights surfaced at an event where, for the first time in a while, we weren’t facilitating. Instead, we were fully immersed in the experience, navigating our own triggers, responses, and unmet needs.
For me, it became clear how my cycle affects the way I process emotions and relationships. Luteal phase hit differently this time. Instead of the usual need for space and solitude, I found myself experiencing an unexpected surge of love, longing, and heart expansion. The shifts in my energy surprised me, and I started questioning where this openness was coming from—was it the deep connection built over the weekend? Or was something else being illuminated?
For Anthony, the weekend brought up a deeper look at the fine line between expressing a desire and creating an expectation. What happens when an innocent longing is interpreted as pressure? What if someone feels obligated to fulfill a want rather than genuinely desiring to engage? These are the questions we found ourselves wrestling with after a moment where unspoken needs led to miscommunication and tension.
By the time we got home, we were both feeling disconnected, frustrated, and unheard. The way we process emotions is different—while one of us seeks immediate clarity, the other needs space to untangle feelings. That night, as we lay in bed unpacking everything, we found a way through. The resolution didn’t come from justifying our perspectives or proving a point. It came from acknowledging the truth of each other’s experience—without excuses, without defending, and without the need to be right.
It was pretty rad.
